Battery Point Distillery was born from a passion for Tasmania and the respected traditions of whisky distilling. Whisky runs proudly in the blood of our founding distiller Jack Lark. Our creative and visionary use of cask and barrel influence drives extraordinary character into all Battery Point whiskies.
In Hobart’s historic Battery Point, where winding lanes of 19th century cottages rise from the harbour, a small stone building contains a treasure trove of small batch, hand-made whiskies slowly ageing in a collection of carefully sourced casks. Painstakingly double-distilled by our Head Distiller Luke Lawrence in tiny quantities from 100% Tasmanian malt mash and pure Tasmanian water, each whisky is completely unique from batch to batch. Variations and nuances of single, double or triple cask ageing come to life, allowing whisky lovers to experience exceptional contemporary expressions of Tasmania.
This February, during Canberra Whisky Week join us for a curated tasting experience featuring seven outstanding whiskies. Enjoy a night of engaging discussions and insights into the rich history and craftsmanship behind each spirit, shared by Luke himself.
Originally from Albury NSW, Luke has been apart of the Tasmanian hospitality scene for over a decade since his move to the apple isle in 2008. Having worked in award winning cocktail bars and restaurants with previous experience in craft beer sales, Luke began his distilling career back in 2017 where he worked in a small team that won ‘World’s Best Vodka’ at the 2018 World Vodka Awards in London. Luke’s vision for Battery Point Distillery is to create a prouduct of the highest quality, and something that people can always rely on everytime they drink it. A drink for any occasion.
